Last week I read about Instagram for Android and I thought “cool… I never used it before but I think I will”. Suddenly, a LOT of my contacts in Facebook started to post a LOT of pics. Instagram fever began.
Something that captures my attention is that many of the indie designers uses Instagram for their product shots (with vintage filters, of course). It seems that the vintage look is quite distinctive for independent design. Funny that one of the most innovative trend has adopted a wasted style to show itself in the market. I´m not so sure if the nostalgic aura that surround indie creation is because of the handcrafts or because the popularity of the recycled fashion, but… what about all the new creations, the emergent designers and brands?
I think Independent Design has an interesting perspective of our present and is looking for changes and new horizons for our future. I love that vintage style (I really do) but, what is indie design saying to the world with this wasted image?
This is only one thing to think about…
